Emerald Crab (Mithrax Sculptus)

Tank cleaner, known for eating algae, particularly Valonia or 'bubble algae'. Mithrax sculptus, the Green/Emerald Crab. Tropical West Atlantic. Can turn into a fish eater when it is larger or if very hungry. Some references state to 2.5 others to a maximum of four inches carapace width.

Diet: Omnivore.

Behavior: The Mithrax sculptus is generally semi-aggressive toward other tankmates.

Water parameters: Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78 F).

Care: Many consider the Mithrax sculptus a low-maintenance specimen. Not venomous.

Size: The Emerald Mythrax Crab may grow to 3 inches.
